We were looking for a quick getaway near Dallas, Texas to enjoy a few days off. It was June, so it was hot. What better way to cool off and chill out than by a lake? Lake Texoma is mere 1 hour and 15 minutes from us and it is a HUGE lake with lots to do. Renting a cabin is nice change from the hotel vibe, and you can bring some food along to enjoy without having to go out to eat the whole time. Flowing Wells Resort and Marina is located on the Southern end of the Lake near Pottsboro. They have several cabins to choose from to fit your needs. We rented the 1 bedroom 1 bath Sunset Village Cottage. Just right for a romantic getaway for two.

Enjoy the lake life at a rustic, quiet cabin at Flowing Wells Resort.

The cabins include a kitchen with dishes, coffee maker (the old school kind), pots, pans, toaster, utensils, towels, etc. There is even a dishwasher (for those of us who love glamping). Outside is deck with table and chairs, a charcoal grill and fire pit area. The resort provides firewood for the fire pit and for the fireplace.

The cabin was clean and cool when we arrived. We highly recommend unplugging, but they do have wi-fi if you need it. We had our cell phones and had no issues with service.

This resort is relaxed and quiet. They have “quiet hours” from 10pm to 8am. We sat outside one evening until late enjoying the fire and the peaceful surroundings. The marina is less than 5 minutes from the cabins and offers 210 covered slips ranging from 30 to 60 feet in length with optional custom boat lifts, boat ramp, on-site boat services, fuel dock, mobile pump-outs, courtesy patrol, yacht brokerage, boat dealer, dry storage, trailer storage, PWC slips and more. The entire property is gated and secure. There are many nearby attractions, restaurants and other marinas to explore within 15-20 minutes of Flowing Wells Resort. We enjoyed checking out Lake Texoma and then returning to our cozy cabin to unwind.

The view from the Sunset Village Cottage enjoying a beautiful sunset over the lake.

It was amazing to sit outside and start a fire and have s’mores and cook hot dogs. So tasty! Something you sure can’t do in a hotel.

We loved our stay and can’t wait to visit again. With such a short drive from Dallas, this is a vacation that you can enjoy for a short weekend, a spur of the moment trip or a family retreat.
